The Mark-it Place
opened its doors on Friday, April 14, 2000; however, this is not a "new" store. Many customers have known owner Jill Lemke for years in her former business Pastimes Gift Shop where she had offered stamps, supplies and classes in addition to a large selection of gifts, clothing and decorative accessories. After 14 years, Jill sold Pastimes Gift Shop and moved all stamp related items down the street to a new home at The Mark-it Place.

The Mark-it Place offers thousands of rubber art stamps, brass stencils, scrapbooking and stamping supplies, magazines and many related daytime how-to classes. Jill has always focused on the Northwoods lifestyle of wildlife and scenic images in her stamp selection. While you will find an expanded emphasis on this theme in stamps, stencils and scrapbook supplies at The Mark-it Place, expect to also find a variety of other image categories as well.

Jill has taught rubber stamp classes since 1992 and has taken the art form beyond basic stamping of greeting cards. Stamps can be applied to home decoratives like walls, floors, furniture and lampshades, soft goods like towels, bed linen and clothing, altered books, scrapbooks as well as jewelry and ornaments. Most stamp stores don't take stamping too much beyond the paper arts, but we want our customers to find a way to express themselves artistically throughout their homes and lives-it's a matter of surrounding ourselves and others with fun! And for those of us pressed for time but who still want to create, most of our techniques and some projects require only 15 minutes (or less) to complete.

After nine wonderful years of sharing her creative gifts and energy with all of us, Judy Weber has moved in a different direction and has accepted full-time employment with Ministry Health Care in Rhinelander.

Judy’s absence will leave a big void not only in my life but also in our customers’ creative lives.  She and I "grew up together" while growing the business of The Mark-it Place.  She has been dedicated and committed to encouraging the artist within with enthusiasm, humor and skill and I know we all will miss her effective instruction, creative advice and quick wit.

But, don't dismay.....you'll see Judy at special events like the Stampede and the One of a Kind Show where she will once again inspire and instruct on the many creative ideas of The Mark-it Place.

Even if you don't have the time for a class, stop in anytime for help, advice, on-the-spot demos, class tip sheets, viewing our samples or to see what's new in our stamping world. The Mark-it Place is open year 'round and our hours are Mon - Sat: 9 AM - 5 PM; Sun: 10:30 AM - 3 PM. (NOTE:  Closed on Mondays January, February and March)
